I was overjoyed when the Isle of Barra Distillers team contacted me to send me a bottle of their one of a kind Barra Atlantic Gin from the remote Outer Hebrides.
The bottle of Barra Atlantic Gin comes in beautiful packaging that matches the design on the label and conjures up images of the island, and the taste of the gin is really delicious!
I tried the gin on my own first to capture the full flavor profile. The carrageenan algae from which this gin is made give it an incredibly unique and strong taste, rich in maritime notes and subtly spicy. Of course (if you know me!) I had to experience this crunchy spirit in a cocktail.
This cocktail is inspired by the white sandy beaches and deep blue waters around the beautiful Isle of Barra, where the gin is proudly made. Orange liqueur goes great with the gin’s botanicals, while the protein adds a rich and silky mouthfeel.
If you are a fan of gin cocktails, I recommend you try Barra Atlantic Gin – first alone, then in this cocktail! You will not regret it!
